Freezer cold, fridge warm
Evaporator fan or defrost system. The most common call I take, and usually a same-visit repair.
A refrigerator is the one appliance you cannot wait a week on. I am Ramez, owner of R3M Appliance Repair, and refrigerator calls in Forney get priority on my schedule for that reason. Most not-cooling refrigerators come down to the evaporator fan, the defrost system or coils packed with dust, and I can usually diagnose which one within a few minutes of opening the back.
The fault people expect is the compressor. It rarely is. Far more often the freezer is still cold but the fresh food side is warm, which points at the evaporator fan or a defrost system that has stopped cycling. Frost builds on the evaporator coil, air stops moving between the compartments, and one side warms up while the other stays frozen.
The other common one costs nothing to prevent: condenser coils packed with dust and pet hair. In a Forney summer a fridge with dirty coils runs almost constantly and still struggles to hold temperature. I clean the coils on every refrigerator call, whether or not that is what you called me for.

Condenser coils, condenser fan or a door seal letting warm air in.
Defrost heater, thermostat or timer not cycling. It gets worse if left.
A clogged defrost drain, or the water inlet valve or line on models with a dispenser.
Usually the water line, inlet valve or filter before the ice maker assembly itself.
Start relay or compressor struggling to start. Worth checking before it quits entirely.
Samsung refrigerators often show frost behind the Twin Cooling panel when the defrost system needs attention. LG and GE refrigerators commonly need an evaporator fan or a defrost repair. Whirlpool, Frigidaire, KitchenAid and Bosch too, and I also work on Sub-Zero as an independent technician, not a factory-authorized dealer.

That pattern almost always means air has stopped moving between the two compartments: an evaporator fan that has failed, or a defrost system that is not cycling and has let frost block the coil. Both are common and both are usually fixed in the same visit.
Refrigerators go to the front of my schedule because food is on the line. Forney is about 20 minutes out, so a morning call is usually a same-day visit.
Under about ten years old with a fan, defrost or coil problem, repair is clearly the better money. A failed sealed system or compressor on an older unit is a different conversation, and I will say so plainly rather than sell you a repair that is not worth it.
No. Leave it as it is and keep the doors closed until I arrive. If the repair will take a while I will tell you what to move and where.
Usually yes. Ice makers are often a water line, inlet valve or filter issue rather than the assembly, and if I am already there it is quicker to check it in the same visit.
