Water left in the bottom
Filter, drain hose, air gap or disposal knockout plug before the drain pump.
Most dishwasher calls in Forney turn out to be smaller than the owner feared. I am Ramez, owner of R3M Appliance Repair, and a fair number of the dishwashers I am called to are a clogged filter or a blocked drain hose rather than a failed pump. I check the cheap causes first, and if that is all it is, that is all you pay for.
Standing water after a cycle is the most common Forney dishwasher complaint, and the order I work through it is the same every time: the filter at the bottom of the tub, then the drain hose, then the air gap or the garbage disposal knockout plug, and only then the drain pump. A surprising number of no-drain dishwashers in newer homes are a disposal that was installed without the knockout plug being removed.
The other frequent one is dishes coming out gritty or cloudy, which is usually a filter full of food debris or spray arms with blocked holes rather than a fault at all. I will clean those and show you the thirty seconds a month that keeps it from coming back.
Filter, drain hose, air gap or disposal knockout plug before the drain pump.
Clogged filter or blocked spray arm holes. Often a clean, not a part.
Door gasket, door latch alignment or a hose connection under the tub.
Door latch switch, control board or a tripped thermal fuse.
Heating element or the vent flap on models that use one.
Filter and a cleaning cycle. Rarely an actual fault.
Whirlpool and KitchenAid dishwashers commonly need a drain pump. Bosch dishwashers are quiet but the drain pump and heating element are the usual repairs. Samsung, LG, GE, Frigidaire, Maytag and Miele as well, built-in and slide-in.

Usually not. I check the filter, the drain hose, the air gap and the disposal knockout plug first, because those account for most no-drain dishwashers. The pump is further down the list, and I would rather find the cheap cause.
Most of the time, yes. Forney is about 20 minutes from Rockwall. Morning calls are usually same-day, later ones get the next morning.
If it has never drained right since installation, check the garbage disposal. When a dishwasher is plumbed into a new disposal and the knockout plug was left in, the water has nowhere to go. It is a common miss on new builds and a quick fix.
A filter, hose, gasket or drain pump on a unit under about ten years old is worth fixing. A failed control board on a cheap older machine often is not, and I will say so.
Yes, and it is often related. If the disposal is jammed or was installed with the plug in place, the dishwasher will not drain properly until it is sorted.
